Video Work

From scripting to filming and editing, these are videos produced for WVUE FOX 8 News, and NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on deadline.

THE BEST SPORTS TEAM IN TOWN

An innovative promotional video taking editing cues from the legendary Guy Ritchie. Gimbal work, sound mixing and slow-motion integration create a fun take on introducing a new character on the scene. This particular project involved detailed storyboarding and location scouting to get the perfect shots and execute the vision I had in mind.

CUTTING TO THE CORE

One of my favorite cuts. Lee Zurik is one of the foremost investigative reporters in the nation. While I didn’t shoot the content in this promo, I got creative with the cuts and music choice to grip the viewer and keep them intrigued throughout. These types of promotional videos can be tricky because the deadlines are very tight and there’s no room to plan. For this piece I had only 5 hours to gather footage, write the script and cut it before it hit air in the evening. These promos run during commercial breaks when viewers often tune out so it’s important to keep the audience glued to the content.

Where do New Orleans chefs eat?

When I was working as a social media producer for The Times-Picayune, I worked with a food reporter to conceptualize and execute a unique 5-episode food series involving chefs in the New Orleans area. I filmed all of the episodes solo and did all of the post-production and original graphics for the series. Additionally, I created a comprehensive social media strategy for each episode on multiple platforms. In the second episode of this series, titled "Where NOLA Chefs Eat,” chef Kelly Fields shares her favorite spots to chow down.

New Orleans Restaurant of the Year

One of my favorite long-term projects. I pitched and spent several days capturing the essence of an iconic New Orleans restaurant “Commander’s Palace.” Food critic Brett Anderson named the institution his 2018 pick for Restaurant of the Year and I wanted to produce a video to accompany the publication of his article. Commander's Palace is the single institution most responsible for turning New Orleans into a globally recognized hothouse of culinary excellence and I tried to capture its mark on the city as it overcame the loss of its founding matriarch.

The Roman Candy Man

Four generations, three flavors, two wagons and one mule. The Roman Candy wagon as been a New Orleans confectionary vendor since 1915, one of the last traditional food peddlers in the city. Ron Kottemann is a soft-spoken but determined businessman and I just love this sweet story. Pun intended.

They call him “John Boy”

"Boxing's not a joke. If you can take a beating and come back the next day then maybe you want it." Meet John Boy from the Eighth Ward, an athlete who worked tirelessly to make his professional boxing debut in the UNO Lakefront Arena the summer of 2018.
